Report of DMI's Workshop on 'Advanced Screen Printing Process' 29, 30 Sept/1st Oct 2015

Around 40 print professionals took active participation in the recently concluded Workshop at DMI institute on advanced screen printing (Commercial, Graphics, Value addition & Industrial printing). The participants expressed their solidarity to screen printing process by asserting: “Screen Printing Jindaabaad“ (in Hindi), meaning 'Long live Screen Printing'.

Under the guidance of Bhargav Mistry, Director of DMI, live demos of screen printing UV special effects on packaging (wine box) and 11 UV effects on duly offset printed poster was performed. The special attraction was a practical session on Serigraphy which involved live demo of screen printing Art with 9 colors using stochastic dots. As an innovative value addition, glitter was also screen printed on specific area of the Art. In the theory, besides regular technical topics on pre press and screen making, Bhargav taught the technique of color separation and positive output for Serigraphy process.

Listening to Bhargav sir, I felt 3- days were spent fruitfully. Taking inspiration from him, I now vow to discontinue using nylon and use only polyester yellow mesh, stop solvent and use only UV inks! Mahesh Parmar, Rang Printers, Vadodara.
