A digital printer Graffiti Signgraphics foresees big opportunity in screen printing

Kolkata based Graffiti Signgraphics Pvt Ltd, an ISO: 9001:2008 certified company, owning 3 wide format digital presses, has recently invested in Grafica's 30” x 40” Cam Shell with inline UV, complete screen making set up, and a squeegee sharpener.

The company is one of the first digital companies in Kolkata region to have such a big screen printing set up for graphics printing with capabilities to print on wide range of rigid substrates, namely, acrylic, sunpack, sunboard, ACP, MDF, glass, leather, widely used in graphics printing for advertising and promotional activities.

“Our endeavor is to capitalise on the 'first mover advantage,” asserts Sauvik Chakravarty, one of the Directors of Graffiti Signgraphics, the other being his elder brother Saugata Chakraborty.

As a digital print solution provider, why did you invest in screen printing technology?

There is a paradigm shift; customers expect us to deliver graphic jobs with long-lasting durability, to be printed on numerous semi rigid and rigid substrates. Our exposure to global printing market and subsequent research has revealed that screen printed graphics jobs have excellent durability.

Most of the quality graphics in many countries are produced by screen printing process. We feel digital prints are not as durable as we wanted it to be; the inks are not meant for long term application and outdoor durability. I feel screen printing technology is making its come back in India for graphic applications and POP/POS production.

So to keep pace with the global trend, meet customers' expectations, and to move into the next level of our graphics printing business, we had no other option but to adopt screen printing technology quickly.

We wanted to en-cash on the big opportunity that is currently open in graphics screen printing.

Why did you prefer brand Grafica?

Although there were other similar options, we preferred brand Grafica mainly because we wanted to source the entire screen printing set up from a reliable manufacturer who has strong knowledge base; who can back us up with technical support, training and awareness on continued basis. Recently a DMI faculty was here whole day to train our staff on various process parameters.
