Seminar & Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing
Date: 8 to 10 March 2007

The Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing held from 8 to 10 March 2007 was attended by participants from all over India. One such participant was  Mukesh K. D, a Screen Maker at CLAY CRAFT, a  Jaipur-based company involved in designing, screen printing and screen making. The company also undertakes 4, 5, colour printing on ceramic, glass SPL transfer printing.

While his experience, Mr Mukesh commented :”I thing every point is new and very perfect screen printing for transfer & direct ceramic. Overall, it is beneficial to our business to develop good quality business”. He said  the input given on screen printing and stretching was something worth noting. No wonder then that he rates DMI 10 out of 10.

Jayentibhai Sohil from Surat based VISHAVKARMA IND, a company which undertakes Ceramic Printing, besides feeling “good” about DMI, he complemented the  institute for its high tech infrastructure including latest Machinery and Measurement Instrument.

Sangli based  DEEP ART, which undertakes all types of PVC paper print and 4 color printing jobs, deputed Raja N. Thakur to attend the programme on ‘Understanding process colour screen printing’ held in the second week of March’07.  “I could learn Good printing practices and it is much beneficial for his work.  He said he never attended such a programme nor he came across an institute like DMI.  “DMI has latest machinery and people  very cooperative, I felt good after attending the programme”

How did Mahesh Ratanchand Diwani of Ichalkaranji (Maharashra) based ANIKET DYE CHEM, chemical and colour dealer felt after attending DMI?
With some experience in garment printing, he said he learnt new Screen making techniques.  While appreciating the DMI’s set up he said “It was a good experience to be at DMI”.

The Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing held from 8 to 10 March 2007 at DMI was even attended by graphic designers and computer operators which is a reflection of  THE IMPORTANCE of such training programes.

Patel Jignesh Madhusdan, a Computer Operator at Vadodara based Y S COMPUTERS which undertakes designing and printers attended this programe. Commenting on the experience at DMI he felt that  halftone printing and prepress is  important for halftone printing.  “At DMI there is a good environment, I learnt good ideas for the exposing unit and air circulation” he said adding that over all experience at this workshop is quite. We acquired good experience in this workshop, we will try to beat printing (halftone) on our units. We were touched by the knowledge in screen printing. We thoroughly  understood this point  and will use it”.

who undertakes packing and cloth bag printing said that he neither  had undergone any training like the one at DMI nor came across an institute like this. While sharing his experience at DMI  he said that he learnt the  procedures of halftone printing. “I liked the way DMI functions” he commented adding that over all it was good experience. “It was nice to see the latest machines in action, printing methods, the way screen printing  is carried out”.

As far as the programmes at DMI is concerned there was no class/post position  divide. DMI invites sends open invitation to all the professionals and people connected to screen printing industry. As a result of which every programme was attended by right from a company’s CEO, MD, GM, partners to shopfloor personnel such as a machine operator.

DMI was  lucky to have M. Krishnamoorthy , General Manager of Valsad based EXCEL GRAPHICS  as one of the participants at the Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing held from 8 to 10 March 2007.     The company is engaged in screen printing of decals of industrial labels.  It handles a wide variety of machines substrates, inks, bolting clothes. It has a Grafica machine in operation in its plant. While his experience after attending the programme he said he could acquire a very good knowledge on process from computer to film. “The DMI’s mission of offering screen printing technology to every one which is otherwise trade secret business for many, is a noteworthy and worth appreciating” he said and rated DMI 8 out of 10.
Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing held from 8 to 10 March 2007 also had a participant from inks manufacturer. Lakshmi vishvanath, a  Senior Chemist from ZYDEX INDUSTRIES’s  Baroda facility attended the workshop and learnt the art of ‘Screen Clearing’. “The way of explaining the processes, cleanliness at DMI, good-food quality/hospitality” all made him feel good and he said it will help him in good quality management.

Mrs. V Kalpana, a Sr. Chemist was another participant from ZYDEX INDUSTRIES, Baroda. She was involved in quality 4 color R & D in application of printing and dyeing. She is accustomed in chest printing by (textile) water base inks, foil printing, transfer printing, HD printing, glitter printing  (textile). She said she never attended any programme in screen printing. However at DMI she got exposed to basic understanding of screen making. Commenting on DMI she said “Cleanliness of unit, Training with he combination of theory and practice was helpful” and she did not forget to mention that “food was very good” and finally she says: “The teaching way of Mr. Mistry is very well”.

Ichalkaranji (Maharashtra) based THE YASHWANT CO.OP. (ZYDEX)  which undertakes Textile Printing deputed its Printing Master Rajan Nayaku Kumbhar to attend the Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing. He said the techniques that he learnt on Screen Making at DMI will help him more in future in his job. What did like the most at DMI? “Systematic training programme an cleanliness” he said. While penning down his over all experience at this workshop he said the DMI’s training was “too good”. “We got more knowledge in screen exposing. The main thing in printing is to make screens properly”, he said.

Kshitij Mittal of New Delhi based KSHITIZ ENTERPRISES  which undertakes ‘from anything to everything in printing’  admitted that he never undergone systematic training or course like this in screen printing. “No, not yet” he said adding that at DMI he learnt a lot on how to get best out of better.  “I never heard of an institute like DMI. No, not yet, in fact not tried even”. He liked the DMI’s perfection, quality aspects.  FINALLY, when asked to comment on his over all experience at this workshop, he said “This type of quality workshop can produce not only good printers but knowledgeable printers. I rate DMI 9.9 on 10”.

DMI spreads its ‘good intention’ of spreading the knowledge in screen printing and related areas to even India’s neighbouring countries such as Pakistan.  The Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing held from 8 to 10 March 2007 had a special participant  Mirza Waqar Haider, a P-L-Manager, Printing Inks & Pigments at  FARAIO AHMED VAWDA ECO,  Karachi, Pakistan. His company is involved in  4 color processing/Textile Printing, using water based with Zydex (India) for the first time in Pakistan. We reproduce here his own experience at DMI that he shared after attending the programme. “I never undergone systematic training or course like this in screen printing. It was really a wonderful experience and come to know that color processing is complete subject and technology. It will definitely help me to enhance more business with more commend. DMI appears to me as an ideal print shop. I am glad to see an institute like DMI and the machinery and technology over here. Its worth to be here and I got a lot knowledge and confidence”.

DMI’s trainings are useful to all involved in screen printing including marketing professionals. For example, ZYDEX INDUSTRIES’ (Vadodara), Marketing Manager,
Rajeev Suresh Paradkar attended the Workshop on Understanding process Color Screen Printing and derived the knowledge in ‘Pre press screen making and CMYK printing’. “It is beneficial. It textiles are included than there will be more benefit” he said in his experience adding that the systematic training programme and hospitality are something that he liked the most at DMI. He added, “It was a nice experience. Overall we learnt so many things. As a man from textile it would be more beneficial it textile printing is included in this programme”.

Three participants from New Delhi based JAWAHAR ENTERPRISES attended the seminar on Understanding process Color Screen Printing held at DMI from 8 to 10 March 2007. The company is engagedin packing and printing business. We reproduce here below their individual experience in brief.
