Wealth of techniques, with pleasant atmosphere. DMI is not the just dream (which became a reality, finally) of its founder, Bhargav. It is also the dream of the entire screen printing industry in India. For almost 30 years personally I have playing the tune of music that 'there should be some academy or an institute to provide systematic training and education in screen printing'.
There were nine printers from Mumbai (one from Shahapur) who visited DMI recently for a day's workshop on screen printing. They are all my customers. When they were on the way to DMI, the printers were not so sure about the outcome of their visit to the institute, but at the end of the day they were all so happy and enthusiastic since it was their first exposure to such a vast knowledge in screen printing. DMI's concept is so open and clear which is not available anywhere in India. The group got exposed to the UV curing technology and its capabilities. In fact they wanted much longer duration-programme. After attending the programme at DMI the group gained confidence and some of them decided to purchase UV curing machines. The interesting part of DMI is that not only so much in depth knowledge is imparted, to support whatever is taught, there is a whole range of modern screen printing machines and equipment which is a perfect blend technology and education.
Actually I can say that in India screen printing technology has never been exposed/projected to printers like the way it is done at DMI. Whenever I ask any screen printer about his background in screen printing, he would say that he has learnt it from another printer. It was never be the case of a printer saying that he has learnt it from a recognized institutes like GIPT which never teaches screen printing in totality. GIPT is such a big institute but even their faculties are not having proper knowledge in screen printing like it is available at DMI. In fact I came to know that DMI went to GIPT to give orientation lecture on screen printing to the students. |
